Sofia Digital’s connected TV application framework combines with NAGRAVISION’s OpenTV® ENTera platform to bring a personalised TV experience to Great! Player across YouView and Freeview.
Tampere, Finland, 19th August 2026 – Sofia Digital, a television application and HbbTV specialist, announced the launch of the new Great! Player application for Narrative Entertainment, the UK broadcaster behind the Great! network of entertainment and movie channels and the Pop children’s channels. The application is now certified and available on YouView and Freeview, giving viewers access to content on-demand from the Great! Network through the red button on live TV.
The Great! Player front-end, including the user interface, is built on Sofia Digital’s unified connected TV application framework, already deployed by broadcasters and operators in several markets. The end-to-end service is powered by NAGRAVISION’s OpenTV ENTera streaming solution that delivers seamless, personalised content discovery and service orchestration. The launch marks Sofia Digital’s first production deployment in the UK.
Sofia Digital recently joined the OpenTV ENTera Partner Ecosystem, which allows NAGRAVISION customers to combine the platform with specialist application partners and deliver a user experience that is familiar in design but distinctive in capability across all key devices. Great! Player is the first production deployment under that partnership.

Throughout the project, Sofia Digital, NAGRAVISION and Narrative Entertainment worked in close, ongoing collaboration, aligning application design, backend integration and platform certification requirements across live broadcast platforms including YouView and Freeview. That way of working allowed the teams to adapt quickly to platform-specific requirements without compromising either the flexibility of the OpenTV ENTera ecosystem or the quality of the viewer-facing application.
