Traffic has been chosen to represent Finland in World Summit Award in
the category of eLearning. WSA will award the best information society
applications in November 2005. 164 countries will nominate their
candidates to the competition.
Traffic is a cross-media application which integrates Internet,
mobile phones, analog TV as well as interactive digital TV. Traffic is
produced by Outer Rim in collaboration with YLE. Outer Rim is a part of
Sofia Digital.
Olli Tola, Head of Programmes at YLE is pleased with the
recognition Traffic received. “YLE’s mission is to provide versatile
high-quality programming. It is gratifying to get feedback like this
for a new service such as Traffic and to see that its added value to
traditional TV programming has been recognized”, Mr. Tola says.
Kimmo Pennanen, Vice President of Sales at Outer Rim, values the
collaboration with YLE. “It is an example of broad-minded view of
interactivity to launch a service such as Traffic on a public
television channel. WSA’s choice is an honor to us and an indication
that societal themes can be approached using new technological means as
well”, Mr. Pennanen elaborates.
